Olympia Weekend Marred By Tragic Death
The death of veteran IFBB official Steve Stone backstage at the Olympia on Friday of a suspected heart attack has added a sad tone to the biggest weekend in professional bodybuilding. It is reported that he didn’t feel well, went behind a curtain, collapsed and was undiscovered for 15-20 minutes.
“It’s like the twilight zone backstage” said one IFBB pro describing the atmosphere after this tragedy.
An ex-bodybuilder, Steve worked as an expeditor, judged shows and was vice-chairman of the New York IFBB committee that he worked on alongside Australian Bev Francis.
