I think you are someone who is too diplomatic and really have problems expressing how you really feel

On a positive note, with the softer girls having somewhere to strut, it may bring a higher level of muscularity and/or conditioning to the figure side of things.

I doubt that too.
The Figure girls look softer and softer every year.

When we finally see a hard looking Figure girl on stage everyone goes "Oh that's too hard, she should be in Physique".
I remember when the Figure girls were much harder than they were today.

The sport is sliding backwards and Sportsmodels are certainly not helping.
There is nothing positive about Sportsmodels at bodybuilding shows.

My real issue with it, is it is spreading resources too thin, especially on a international level.

Make no mistake, the Australian scene is far more gender balanced then the international/pro level - women have far, far fewer opportunities overseas.

Men are more popular anyway to begin with; no female competitor will ever be able to get the popularity to get all the guest posings, contracts etc that earn the IFBB pro guys big money.

And - men have 1 division, and 1/3 of the pro numbers.

Females, 3 was spread thin enough, 4 will spread us so thin there is almost nothing to go around.

All the female bodybuilders, fitness and figure competitors are now fighting for the meager opportunities available - toss in a few thousand bikini/sportsmodels its simply gets worse...will only be a scrap here and there for anyone.

Simple rule of supply and demand is not in our [womens] favour.

4 pro shows for FBB, low price money like $6,000 total - that is the state the female "pro" ranks are in now. With an addition of another division, ergo 33% more competitors, I simply see a 33% decline for those of us in the game now.

Wow, totally negative post, all doom and gloom, sorry about that

Some of the Bikini/Sportsmodel competitors from the show today in the US where the 2 pro cards will be given - results in a few hours, so these are just some random competitors below....pics from MD, link to view all is here.

Looks to be about 33 women [in 6 classes]

The 4 below are all class winners:

I love your maturity level...
I am 21 years old and do not have the muscle maturity to be a figure competitor. I train hard, I diet hard, I live the life. The Bikini division is also a good division for women who do not want to be extremely muscular, but have competitive edge. I feel sorry for you if you think walking on a treadmill and eating tilapia is the only way to train for a show. Different training methods make for different physiques. You my have lifted heavy today, but one of the bikini competitors just got done running and finished a rigorous resistance training work out. I believe that anyone who is proud of the physique that they sculpted through hard work and health deserves to be on that stage. By the way I had a great time in the bikini f class in the junior usa

What really worries me is the lack of female bodybuilders. You are lucky to see 2 or 3 in a class these days.I like to see some of the figure girls & that class seems to be growing stronger every year.Im sorry but i will go to the beach or the v8 supercars to see girls in bikinis.
