From Go Figure - NABBA Worlds Cancelled

The NABBA Worlds which was to be held in Alicante Spain has been cancelled! This news comes, today (11 June)

An excerpt of the team memo from NABBA NZ reads

"It is with huge disappointment that we have to inform you that the 2009 World Championships has been postponed....After making contact with member countries, the primary reason seems, that most countries are feeling the financial crisis and do not have the funding viability to take large teams to competition".

"Fake" NABBA strikes again!
When will those Kiwi's learn.

This is the second year in a row that their World titles have been cancelled at extremely short notice.
NZ should ditch them and get on board with the "real" NABBA.

Feel real sad for the athletes as 3 of them had this show cancelled on them last year. One would wonder if they'll train for this comp again if they're selected.

I'm sure NABBA NZ will be discussing their international future participation and affiliation considering what's happened.

What happened here is a disgrace.
Once is bad enough, but two years in a row is unforgivable.

NZ BBers should refuse to compete with "fake" NABBA and insist that they be given the opportunity to compete with "real" NABBA.

I think when people start to compete they really don't look at the long term view of competing at international level. The novices just want to do a show or 2 a year and don't really take notice of how an organisation is affiliated at international level. And probably don't care as long as their local comp is running. Which is fair enough. But perhaps the more seasoned athletes who do have international aims might want to do research and see where their organisation's at if they have long term international goals.

Agree 100% with all the above.

I hope the Kiwi head people do something about this - it really is sad for the competitors.

NZ, as we know from their constant poaching of Aussie titles, has some top notch competitors and it's a real shame they have basically been shafted like this by the worlds organisers.
