Reigning champion Jenny Lynn was dethroned and placed 4th, as many had speculated after prejudging callouts with newcomer Jennifer Gates taking her first Olympia title. The win is also notable, as she becomes the first mother to ever claim a fitness or figure Olympia title, as she is a mother of two boys.

The death of veteran IFBB official Steve Stone backstage at the Olympia on Friday of a suspected heart attack has added a sad tone to the biggest weekend in professional bodybuilding. It is reported that he didn’t feel well, went behind a curtain, collapsed and was undiscovered for 15-20 minutes.
